If you need to join cables together quickly to prototype a project, these are ideal for the job and require no tools - the levers simply lift open and close. The levers are very stiff and snap down hard to ensure a solid connection, which is crucially important with electronics!
The connectors have a rated current of 32A, a nominal voltage of 400V (IEC) and are UL-listed so you can use them for your mains wiring (via an electrician!). Wires from 12-28AWG will fit and work well.
