Description
Featuring a PCIe 3.0 switch for faster read/write speeds, this bottom-mounted dual-NVMe add-on for Raspberry Pi 5 allows you to get the best performance out of NVMe drives and other M.2 modules thanks to the ASMedia ASM2806 PCIe 3.0 switch.
Most M.2 HATs and add-ons for Raspberry Pi 5 typically use PCIe 2.0 packet switches. This add-on from Seeed uses the ASMedia ASM2806 PCIe 3.0 switch allowing greater read/write speeds, an example of which can be seen below.
The add-on accommodates 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 standard-size modules. If booting from NVMe, we strongly recommend updating your firmware and bootloader first, using Raspberry Pi Imager.
Note: SATA SSDs are not compatible - M.2 NVMe only. Raspberry Pi and SSD are not included.

NVMe SSD Compatibility
There is still no definitive list of compatible NVMe SSDs for Raspberry Pi 5 via PCIe, however, the internet is full of discussions and examples highlighting which drives are likely to work.
As a result, we always recommend the Raspberry Pi NVMe SSD.
