Description
This fantastically festive kit is a fun way to celebrate the Christmas season whilst working on your micro:bit coding skills at the same time.
The kit includes our Rainbow LED Christmas tree for micro:bit AND our Snowflake Buzzer for micro:bit PLUS a handy pack of crocodile clips for connecting the boards to your micro:bit!
Both boards have easy-to-use crocodile clip connections just like the micro:bit, making it easy to set up and start coding using Microsoft MakeCode.
Use the Snowflake buzzer to code Christmas jingles (such as jingle bells!), or use the tree to code your own blinky festive decoration, cycling through whatever colours or patterns you choose.
micro:bit not included! We also sell the tree and snowflake separately.
Hardware Connections
- Connect the black crocodile clip to the GND port of the micro:bit and the other side to the 'G' port of the tree or snowflake
- Connect the red crocodile clip to the 3V port of the micro:bit and the other side to the 'V' port of the tree or snowflake
- Connect the yellow crocodile clip to the 0 port of the micro:bit and the other side to the 'S' port of the tree or snowflake
How to code - LED Christmas Tree
- Open Microsoft MakeCode: https://theihuty.shop/#
- Select 'New Project'
- From the left block bar, select 'Advanced' then 'Extensions'
- Search for 'neopixel' and select the extension matching that name
- Now download this Makecode hex file and drag it over to your MakeCode screen to load the example project
- Once loaded to your micro:bit, your tree's LEDs should glow and change colour
- Now tinker to your heart's content whilst eating too many chocolates from the tub!

- Open Microsoft MakeCode: https://theihuty.shop/#
- Select 'New Project'
- Download this MakeCode hex file and drag it over to your MakeCode window to load the example jingle
- Once loaded to your micro:bit, press the A or B buttons and see what happens...
- Now make your own tunes and dance around the Christmas tree!
